Our approach to Monitor Temperature in the Marine and Coastal Ecosystems
The SAGITTA project is a citizen science initiative aimed at involving fishers in marine ecosystem monitoring. The affordable, user-friendly temperature-depth probe allows fishers to collect valuable data during their fishing trips. The system is designed for ease of use, ensuring that fishers can operate the probe without technical expertise.
The device is controlled via an Android app, which lets users view recorded data, calibrate sensors, and transfer data to a web portal. The data undergoes a quality check before being made publicly available. With its open-source technology, SAGITTA encourages global participation, enabling anyone to use the system and contribute to ocean monitoring efforts.
